Followers of Jesus have been given a great co-mission that cannot be done by ourselves. Jesus commanded,
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age (Matthew 28:19-20, NIV).
Jesus calls us to pray and serve as workers in the harvest (Matthew 9:37-38). In John 10:16 Jesus said,
I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen.
He claims sheep who are not already followers. Like Andrew who brought his brother Simon to Jesus (John 1:41), who will you bring to Jesus?
Sunday School is a great tool that can be used to help you bring your brother, your friend, your neighbor, an associate to Jesus. Sunday School is a 24/7 ministry that exists for those who are not members of it. While only 1 lost attender out of 342 who attend worship will accept Jesus in a year, one out of three lost attenders who attend Sunday School will accept Jesus in a year. Wow, we need to invite people to Sunday School. Sometimes we underestimate the tool that Sunday School can be.
If you knew Jesus was going to be in your class this Sunday School, who would you invite to meet Him? Remember, He will be there! Jesus said, “For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them” (Matthew 18:20, NIV).” I like the list given in the frequently asked section of the http://www.buildingsmallgroups.com website in response to the question, “Who should I invite to my small group?” Invite those who . . .
-
Do not know Christ,
-
Are new in their relationship with Christ,
-
Are not growing in their relationship with Christ,
-
Have never been in a small group, and
-
Haven’t made spiritual life decisions.
Pray. Invite people to Sunday School. Jesus will be there. Trust Him to work. Watch as lives are changed. Be revolutionary!
