Build = a process to construct, establish, increase, strengthen, mold, form, or create. All Sunday School leaders should be about building and that process of building will require the leader to be intentional. If you can’t identify those that you are “building” then you are not being intentional. Can you name a person that you are meeting with privately or in a small group for the specific purpose of helping him or her become a more mature follower of Jesus?
Kingdom = a state or government with a king that has constituted a realm of control. All Sunday School leaders are to be about Kingdom building but the question is whose kingdom are you working on? We are to be about building God’s Kingdom not our kingdom. The best way to find out whose kingdom is being built only occurs after the teacher is gone. The class that usually had a teacher building their kingdom ceases to exist after the teacher is gone.
Leaders = a person or thing that leads or guides or directs such as of an army, movement, or political group. In the music arena it is a conductor or director, as of an orchestra, band, or chorus. A leader is one that makes a difference! If you’ve been teaching your class for more than three years and you are still doing everything yourself, you are not growing up leaders.
We are called as Sunday School leaders to BUILD KINGDOM LEADERS not to just simply attract class attenders! We must commit of ourselves to a long-term process that focuses on God not us. And the result will be evident in those that take leadership roles within our class or leave to lead in other ways.
