Shattered! A few weeks ago, my daughters were headed home from College for fall Break, when the hood unlatched and shattered her windshield. Thankfully, she kept her wits and was able to maneuver the car to a safe place. Praise the Lord for his protection.
Things do not always work out and we question God. A few years ago, a good friend and member of my Sunday School class passed away. I still remember those days. My daughters and her daughters were in the high school band. We returned from a Band contest early on Sunday morning that I chaperoned. When the girls, got home their mother was listless but responded. When I arrived for Sunday School, there was a note on the board that read, Pray for Beth. We attempted to find out what was going on. Finally, some of her neighbors arrived and shared that she was stable but being transported by ambulance to the hospital. I shared that after class I would head to the hospital. By the time, Sunday School was over, Beth has fallen into a coma and was never to wake up again. She died on Monday.
In the midst of this ordeal, I watched my Sunday School class minister to Chuck, Beth’s husband and faithful member of the class, Beth’s daughters, and to each other. I begin to thank about all the lost people in Tennessee. Since that dreadful day in September 2006, my prayer is that God would allow every person in Tennessee to come to know Jesus as their Savior and get connected to a Sunday School class.
When lives are shattered, we need the touch of the Master’s hand and loving friends and family. You can find that in a Sunday School class.
